A clean .25” (6.3mm) minus material mixed with high quality organic material at 70/30 by volume is typical. Many landscape suppliers stock ‘Turf mix’, which is typically 80/20 sand to soil by volume. Adding more soil is all that is required. Bags may be closed with zip ties, galvanized rebar ties, hog rings, or stitching.
